When planning an event, the number one question event planners ask us is: "How many casino tables do I actually need?"
It's a crucial detail. Rent too few tables, and your guests might end up waiting in lines to play, feeling frustrated and bored. Rent too many, and the room may feel empty and lack that energetic, packed-casino vibe. Plus, you don't want to spend budget on tables that sit unused.
Fortunately, calculating the perfect amount of equipment is easy once you know the formula. Here is our comprehensive guide to sizing your casino party in Dallas/Fort Worth.
The Golden Rule of Thumb
You don't need a spot at a table for every single person at your event. At any given time, a portion of your guests will be mingling, getting drinks, eating, or watching the action rather than actively playing.
The rule of thumb: Plan for 70% to 80% of your guests to be playing at the same time.
If you're hosting 100 people, you want enough player positions to comfortably accommodate 70 to 80 guests simultaneously. Remember that different tables accommodate different numbers of players. A Blackjack table typically holds 7 players, a standard Craps table can hold 10-14, Roulette accommodates 8-10, and Texas Hold'em seats 9.
Casino Party Size Guide
To make things simple, we've broken down the ideal table mix based on total guest count. Use this chart to determine what you'll need for your event:
| Total Guests | Recommended Tables | Suggested Game Mix |
|---|---|---|
| 20-30 Guests | 2-3 tables | 1 Blackjack, 1 Roulette, 1 Poker |
| 30-50 Guests | 3-4 tables | 2 Blackjack, 1 Roulette, 1 Craps |
| 50-100 Guests | 5-7 tables | 3 Blackjack, 1 Roulette, 1 Craps, 1-2 Poker |
| 100-200 Guests | 7-12 tables | 4 Blackjack, 2 Roulette, 2 Craps, 2 Poker |
| 200-500+ Guests | 12-20+ tables | Custom mix — contact us for a consultation |
Which Games Are Most Popular?
When selecting your mix, it helps to understand the dynamics of the games we offer:
- Blackjack: The foundation of any casino party. It is fast, easy to learn, and highly social. You should always feature more Blackjack tables than any other game.
- Roulette: Visually impressive and draws a crowd. It requires no skill, making it highly accessible and popular among all demographics.
- Craps: The energy center of the casino. Craps tables get loud and rowdy (in a good way!). Our professional dealers are great at teaching beginners the ropes.
- Texas Hold'em Poker: Best for players who want to settle in for a longer session. It requires more focus and strategy, so it is slightly less transient than the other games.
Tips for Space Requirements
You also need to ensure your venue can actually fit the tables! As a general guideline, you should allocate:
- Blackjack & Poker: About 70-80 square feet per table (including space for the dealer, players, and walking paths).
- Roulette: About 90-100 square feet.
- Craps: 100-120 square feet, as these tables are substantially larger.
